Harry & Piper at the New York University Club

Where Historic Architecture and Modern Romance Collide

There’s something incomparable about a spring wedding in Manhattan. In May, New York feels alive — the light is softer, the air is warm but fresh, and 5th Avenue hums with energy without feeling overwhelming. This wedding at the New York University Club, located right in the heart of Manhattan, captured everything we love about photographing in the city. As a New York wedding photographer, documenting celebrations in iconic locations like this — where history, architecture, and modern city life intersect — is always inspiring.

The entire day unfolded inside the New York University Club. The couple got ready in the private rooms upstairs, surrounded by family and the quiet anticipation that builds before a ceremony. The ballroom, with its chandeliers, dark wood paneling, and timeless design, hosted both the ceremony and reception. It’s a venue that feels classic and established without being overdone — elegant in a way that photographs beautifully and naturally lends itself to editorial wedding photos.

Before the ceremony, we created a dreamlike first look inside one of the Club’s library spaces. The tall bookshelves, warm tones, and soft window light gave the moment a cinematic quality. It felt intimate and still — almost suspended in time — a sharp contrast to the movement of Manhattan just outside. As an editorial wedding photographer, these environments are a gift. The clean compositions, layered textures, and controlled light allow us to create images that feel refined while remaining emotionally real.

Afterward, we stepped out onto 5th Avenue for portraits — one of the most iconic stretches in New York City. Photographing a couple right in the rhythm of Manhattan requires a balance of direction and spontaneity. Yellow taxis rolled by, pedestrians moved naturally through the frame, and yet the couple remained completely present with each other. The result was a series of editorial wedding photos that feel candid but intentional — modern, stylish, and unmistakably New York. For couples planning a spring or summer wedding in Manhattan, incorporating the city itself adds an energy that simply can’t be replicated elsewhere.

The celebration itself was filled with thoughtful, creative details. During cocktail hour, live poets sat behind vintage typewriters, inviting guests to share small personal details before improvising and typing custom poems on ink and paper. It was one of the most unique guest experiences we’ve witnessed — meaningful, interactive, and deeply memorable. As dinner began, a live jazz band transformed the ballroom. Every guest — young and old — filled the dance floor, moving effortlessly to the rhythm. The energy was joyful, stylish, and completely authentic to the couple.

This wedding was a perfect example of what makes Manhattan weddings so special: iconic location, timeless architecture, and people who bring incredible warmth and personality to the day. As a New York wedding photographer experienced in documenting celebrations at venues like the New York University Club, we’re always excited to return for spring and summer weddings in the city.
